Planning and Thinking (I'm multi-tasking)

I'm up to my eyeballs in VBS stuff. Well maybe not literally, but at least up to my knees in boxes and decorations and crafts and referee jerseys and raglan shirts and tents and fake turf and then just the regular Sunday stuff.

But I am ruminating on a topic. So I put forth to you a few questions. When you hear the word beauty what do you think of? How would you define beauty? And, is beauty important to you?

beauty IS important but not just the outer appearance. There are inner qualities such as intelligence, confidence and self-esteem (to name a few) that can make a person beautiful, even if the outside appearance is... rough.

Beauty is...only skin deep. (No, wait)

Beauty is...in the eye of the beholder. (Umm, I can do better)

Beauty is...K driving down the road ROCKING OUT to kid's praise music in her car. (yea, I saw ya...)

I was just thinking about this! (--again) Beauty--I wonder about a God who cares about us so much to place a desire for beauty in us fallen creatures.
What makes a painting beautiful, or a building, or a smell, or a bedroom, or a person, or a couch?
Why should "beauty" as a concept matter? You know, matter in some visceral way, unique to humans. I don't know.
It's frustrating to me in some ways in that I *love* beautiful things (or things beautiful to me--smile), and have a desire to nest and create--enjoy beautiful environments, and so on...but then am thwarted by limited experience, funds, talent, opportunity.
And isn't it all "wood, hay, and stubble"?
Except that perhaps our expressions of beauty and our attempts are ways for us to reach for and reflect His glory, yet never quite be satisfied this side of heaven. We won't find our heart's true longing until we are united with our Creator.
I haven't got it figured out, yet.

someone or something is beautiful to me when they make me smile involuntarily.

Of course beauty is important to me. But it encompasses a lot of things in life.

In humanity, it's both the interior and the exterior. Someone can be very easy on the eyes and yet a complete jerk, yet another person may be the sweetest person you know but not the first you'd choose for a magazine cover. In my experience, the latter is the more alluring.

Beauty exists in this world, whether it's as simple as a raindrop on a flower or as complex as an entire underwater eco-system.

I guess beauty is open to interpretation.
